Skiers and snowboarders looking for a comprehensive guide to Colorado’s high country resorts: look no further. The Denver Post’s 2013-14 Colorado Ski Guide provides engaging narratives on each of the state’s 25 ski resorts, with insider insight into some great powder haunts, family friendly cruisers and terrain parks at world-renowned winter playgrounds such as Aspen, Vail and Steamboat.

Interactive buttons with each story provide information about the number of trails and lifts, ticket prices, vertical feet on the mountain from top to bottom, amount of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain and opening and closing dates. The app includes recommendations on restaurant choices, hotels and condos and exciting nearby recreational activities for each ski area.

Beyond the resort overviews are a healthy dose of feature stories on topics such as Olympic ski phenom Mikaela Shiffrin’s first powder run, a kid-friendly resort called Keystone and other winter diversions such as ice climbing and snowmobiling. Since it’s the age of crowd sourcing, we reached out to our Facebook friends for their recommendations on what slopes to check out and where the fun hangouts are. We’ve also got intel on what resorts are doing with their tech, especially mobile apps that provide real-time info on everything from snow conditions to discounts.

Last but not least, this book provides an awesome array of photos, slideshows and videos of skiers and snowboarders doing what they do best — turning tricks in the parks and pipes, catching big air in the back bowls and absorbing faceshots of Colorado’s signature champagne powder. We topped it off with a slide show from our archives looking back at some of the history of Colorado skiing. It’s a visual banquet we hope will put you in the mood to hit the slopes and keep coming back.
